UNIMAC-IL PARTNERS WITH MEILLEUR LANGUAGE CENTRE TO ELEVATE LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN GHANA

In a landmark move to strengthen language education in Ghana, the Institute of Languages (IL) at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meilleur Language Centre (MLC), a subsidiary of Corricreche and Crimson Dawn School in Akosombo. The agreement, signed by UniMAC-IL Rector Prof. Cecilia Addei, marks the beginning of a transformative collaboration aimed at enhancing language training, certification, and academic excellence.

The UniMAC-IL and MLC partnership reflects a growing trend of academic institutions joining forces to enhance Ghana’s educational landscape. By combining UniMAC-IL’s academic oversight with MLC’s grassroots reach, the collaboration ensures that more students across Ghana can access structured, certified language programmes.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Rector of the Institute of Languages of the University of Media, Arts and Communication, Prof. Cecilia Addei emphasized the partnership’s role in expanding access to quality language education. “This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to academic excellence and innovation in language teaching. By working with Meilleur Language Centre, we are creating pathways for students to gain globally recognized certifications while upholding the highest educational standards,” she stated.

The Director of Meilleur Language Centre, Mrs. Corrinne Sackey expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to elevate language learning in Ghana. “This MoU is a game-changer for our students and instructors. UniMAC-IL’s expertise and certification will add immense value to our programmes, empowering learners with skills that open doors to academic and professional opportunities,” they noted.

Under the agreement, UniMAC-IL will provide comprehensive course outlines for English, French, German, and Spanish programmes, ensuring that MLC’s curriculum aligns with national and international standards.
Additionally, UniMAC-IL will:
• Build the capacity of MLC instructors through specialized workshops.
• Moderate and oversee MLC’s end-of-session examinations to maintain academic rigor.
• Issue UniMAC-IL certificates to deserving MLC students, granting them recognized qualifications.

On its part, Meilleur Language Centre will:
• Recruit students and qualified instructors for the language programmes.
• Organize training workshops for instructors at the start of each academic session.
• Register students for UniMAC-IL examinations and certification.

As both institutions move forward with this initiative, the focus remains on empowering minds, fostering multilingualism, and preparing students for a competitive global environment.
Together, we are not just teaching languages we are building bridges to brighter futures.

Learning a language at GIL has provided me with an extremely gratifying experience. Thanks to the tremendous support and individualised instructions I've received, I'm becoming steadily more confident and comfortable in speaking, reading and writing Chinese. My teachers have provided me with insight, flexibility and guidance and as a result I'm thoroughly enjoying my studies here

GIL was really beneficial to me as it provided extensive, useful resources and well-structured projects that made it easy to learn French. I had a wonderful lecturer who not only dedicated so much time and effort to improve our French, but also gave an unbelievable amount of support, encouragement and advice that particularly helped me. The face-to-face lectures were a highlight, enabling me to practice French with native speakers and gain new ideas and perspectives from people all over the state, which I believe is incredibly important for extension courses
