UniMAC-IL RECTOR ENGAGES THE DEPUTY AGRIC MINISTER ON KEY DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS TO ADDRESS INFRASTRUCTURE GAPS
The Rector of the University of Media, Arts and Communication’s, Institute of Languages (UnimAC-IL), Professor Cecilia Addei, has held strategic talks with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Honourable John Dumelo, to discuss the pressing developmental needs of the Institute.
The meeting, held at the UniMAC’s East Legon campus, created an opportunity for Prof. Addei and her management team to outline key challenges that continue to hinder the full realisation of the Institute’s vision. In her welcome statement, the Rector commended the MP for his continuous support and consistent interest in the growth of UniMAC-IL. She outlined critical concerns including the lack of hostel facilities for local and international students, the need for fencing to protect the University’s land from encroachment, and landscaping projects to enhance the campus environment.
Hon. Dumelo, in his dual capacity as Deputy Minister and MP for the area, assured the Rector and her team of his strong commitment to facilitating solutions to these challenges. He reaffirmed the government’s broader objective of strengthening institutions that drive education, culture, and human capital development, noting that UnimAC-IL plays a critical role in promoting language education and cultural exchange in Ghana and beyond.
Prof. Addei expressed optimism about the renewed assurances, describing them as an important step toward positioning the Institute as a world-class centre for language and cultural studies. She emphasised that with adequate infrastructure and stakeholder support, UnimAC-IL will be able to serve students from Ghana and across the sub-region while contributing significantly to national development. The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties pledging to deepen collaboration to ensure that the Institute’s infrastructural and academic needs are met in the coming months.
